| Breakfast with Santa at Mariposa. Over 100 of our keiki and their families enjoyed breakfast with Santa, and The employees of Neiman Marcus made sure that every child received a gift! |
 |
The Holidays are a joyous time, a time of year when giving is the order of the day. I urge you to take this time to look at the past year and to be grateful for our good fortunes.
As we well know, some are not as fortunate. Many people struggle daily, wondering where the rent money is going to come from, or if they will have enough food or clothing. Others are in need of medical attention and can not afford to see a doctor. These day-to-day struggles take precedence over thinking about something special during the holidays.
At this time of year we are overwhelmed with the charity of people wanting to help. Organizations and companies have donated their time and money to make sure our teens have a Holiday party, others made sure our families had the opportunity to enjoy a breakfast with Santa, complete with gifts for the little ones! A Christmas Bookdrive raised over 500 new books for our keikis.
We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such warm and thoughtful people, businesses, and organizations this Holiday Season. But, unfortunately, this is not enough throughout the year PACT is there to help families. We provide safe places for families destroyed by domestic violence and daycare for the children of parents busy seeking jobs. PACT helps children with special needs and others to get a good start at school and social life. We are there to help those in need to break out of their poverty level existences by supporting and aiding their search for employment, or to start their own business. At PACT we also assist people in leaving the cycle of violence by teaching them that violence is not the answer, and above all not with children. We help fathers to understand the important role they play in their childrens lives and mothers to be more nurturing.
At PACT our job of making a better future for those in need is a never-ending one, but a task we gladly take on. But we cannot do it alone. Many of our contracts do not pay for all the services we provide. We are dependent on donations to meet the needs of our consumers.
We know that you are inundated with requests, especially at this time of year, but as a PACT supporter may I ask that you consider your year-end gift to PACT? Please help us to continue the year-round work we do for the ohana of Hawaii.
