“ProjectFocus Hawai‘i 2005,”
an exciting community service project of which PACT will be the first beneficiary. “Doorways,”a photographic exhibit featuring our children, opens with a reception at 6:30 PM Thursday, August 25th at Dole Cannery.
Fifteen children from our teen program will be exhibiting their photographs along side professional portraits of them taken by Laurie Breeden Callies of Baby Face Productions and Lisa Uesugi of Utopia Photography. Ms. Callies and Ms. Uesugi raised $8,500 to create “ProjectFocus Hawai‘i 2005”.
Each child was presented with a HOLGA medium-format camera. After training, they were each given a photojournalistic assignment. That assignment was to take 12 photographs of someone special in their lives and write a brief description of what that person meant to them. The results will be unveiled at the exhibit opening alongside professional portraits of them taken by Ms. Callies and Ms. Uesugi.
Showtime:
“Doorways” a portfolio of portraits of and by the youth at Kuhio Park Terrace and PACT’s Community Teen Program, will open at 6:30 p.m. Aug.25 at The Shops at Dole Cannery, mall level, first floor.
